Prodigiosin

Prodigiosin is a natural pigment produced by certain fungal genera, such as Prodigiosin, and is a biologically active secondary metabolite. Prodigiosin is a potent inhibitor of the Wnt/ beta-catenin pathway with antimicrobial, antifungal, antibiogenic, anti-malarial, immunosuppressive, and anticancer properties. It belongs to the carotenoid family and is presented in its deep red solid form with good thermal stability and antioxidant properties. Actinorubin is stable at acidic pH, but can fade under alkaline conditions, a property that requires special attention to environmental conditions in different applications.
